I love Christmas! The rushing around, busy schedules, and masses of people don’t bother me at all! In fact, it makes me more excited! Shopping on Black Friday with my mother-in-law and other Wallace girls is one of the highlights of my year! Getting great deals, listening to Christmas music….it’s just great!!!
Part of the reason I enjoy it so much is probably because I try to get an early start on getting gifts, so I can “enjoy” the season. Typically, I start keeping an eye out for gifts in September, but this year I’m starting in July. Since I’ve started couponing I get daily e-mails from www.hip2save.com. This girl does a great job of letting you know what is on sale and gives links to available coupons for the deals. A couple of her e-mails have caught my attention as they have been things that would make great gifts that I could get for next to nothing!
I haven’t made it to the toy section of KMart this week, but I have learned that the ad says you can take an additional 50% off toys already on clearance. Check out this site (http://www.savingyourcents.net/2009/07/super-toy-clearance-deals-at-kmart-this.html) to see how this lady bought over $1000 worth of toys for $150 at KMart this week! I don’t need that many toys, but the good deals are exciting!
Obviously I’m not totally opposed to gift-giving, but it’s easy to get caught up in buying the perfect gift for everyone in time that we lose the true meaning of Christmas. I think with my earlier start I will be able to get better prices, because I won’t have to buy something just to have it in time.
So this year, I plan to get great gifts, for unbelieveable prices, and finish early so that I can spend time during the Christmas season with my family and in the mindset of what this holiday represents. Want to join me?
